It’s officially fall, and I want to spice up your season with some fun fall events near South Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Altadena and Manhattan Beach. I found something for everyone. What would Halloween be without a sugar rush? Join the community for a fun, family-filled night as you and your family trick-or-treat along Foothill Blvd. Shops along Foothill Blvd in La Cañada Flintridge will open their doors for some old fashion Halloween fun, allowing pint sized pumpkins, princesses and perhaps a few ghosts to go door to door showing off their spooky look in exchange for a sweet treat. The Halloween festivities take place on October 31st from 3:00pm – 5:00pm, and participating merchants will have orange and black balloons outside their shop.If you’re looking for a spectacularly spooky Halloween event for the whole family, don’t miss South Pasadena’s FREE Halloween Spooktacular on Friday, October 27th from 5:30pm – 8:00pm. A true Halloween experience with hair-raising excitement, including boo-rific games, inflatables and more. Food and sweets will be available for sale. We’re sure the whole family will be in the fall spirit after the Spooktacular!The 30th Annual Family Halloween Carnival at Manhattan Heights Community Center in Manhattan Beach is sure to tickle your fall fancy. Spend your afternoon on Saturday, October 21st from 12:00pm – 4:00pm at this annual carnival designed for children ages 2 to 13 and enjoy a costume contest and parade, face painting, a haunted house and food and game booths. Prizes will be rewarded for costumes in the following categories: most original, scariest and judges’ choice, so have some fun getting in the creative spirit with your family. One of Southern California’s oldest Oktoberfest celebrations, the fun-filled day boasts rides, live music, beer gardens and tasty bites. Free entry, and it is one of the only family friendly Oktoberfest events in the area! Experience your Fall fairy tale at Pasadena’s Fall Festival, October 28th from 3:00pm – 7:00pm. Your fairy tale comes to life with games, crafts, rides, costume contests, a Tiny-Tot zone, live entertainment and more. Admission is free, so just bring your fall spirit to this holiday festival!Old Pasadena is celebrating Day of the Dead with a three-day event, October 27th – 29th, featuring beautiful altars created by local businesses to honor loved ones who have passed before us. The weekend-long event is a self-guided Tour of Altars, and there will be free pop-up activities and promotions as the city celebrates life and honors the souls of those no longer with us.Light up your fall with the Manhattan Beach Pier Lighting and Holiday Open House on November 15th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. The Pier Lighting Ceremony begins at 6:00pm, and the Mayor will flip the switch to illuminate the Manhattan Beach Pier with holiday lights at 7:00pm, officially kicking off the holiday season. Manhattan Beach retailer stores, businesses and restaurants will be open late with special holiday offers. This magical evening includes carolers, reindeer, live music, treats and plenty of cheer.
